January 2012
After our lunch, the owner of the nipa hut offered us his homemade chocolate drink made from cacao, fruits of his labor in the mountain. His house was surrounded with many vegetation and native chicken.
Taking a pose of this old tree near the last water source before we start ascending to the campsite.
The view at almost campsite, passing through a golden rice field on the top of the mountain with a good water source perfectly just in time with the Mt.Daat sunset.
The great view pays off all our hard trek and the aching heat of the sun.
Reflecting on how blessed I am, and how am I going to take good care of these environment as a stewards of Gods creation.
All of us stop and pose a moment witnessing amazing sunset a very memorable climb ender for that day. wow! just wow!
Sunset by my side...gives us courage to end the trek with a good heart and attitude.
Thats the three beautiful lady enjoying the sunset. Its Yssa of Cebu, ren2x of Valencia and my girlfriend claire, three of them are great friends and applicant of Cuernos de Negros Mountaineers Inc of Silliman University.
Welcoming campsite, a wide campsite that could cater around 50 tents. A wide lagoon at the back part of the mountain that served as safe campsite.
Reaching the campsite with a cool breeze of wind from the north. This girls are chilling already.
That's me and claire at the viewing peak of mt. Da-at. A happy and contented smile of ours upon climbing and reaching the summit. Nothing compares the feeling of being in the mountain peak.
Our lovers jumpshot sunset as our background.
Upon our arrival we set up our camp, pitch our tents and then explore the campsite. Just enjoying the great landscape that the mountain can only offer.
After our early dinner, the darkness cover the mountain landscape and so we started our socials.
During the socials we had first our formal introduction to oneself then followed by the exchange of feelings and experiences along the trail while climbing Mt. Da-at.
We had a night full of laugh and in a way we get to know more each other on the process together with a Rhum that served as a body warmer to some of the climbers.
We share stories of our different climbing experiences and ideas that we learned.
Early morning the next day, I woke up early to capture the morning view of the area and I capture this wonderful view of white rock mountain near the campsite. The reward of waking up early.
Another early bird camper savoring the beautiful view of the campsite.

Another set of hyper camper with there mandatory jump shot with the river of clouds at the back.
And here's another camper just woke up while everyone was busy preparing for the breakfast and asked for her solo picture with her tent..

Busy preparing for our breakfast.. Jecky and yssa are the main cook master..
Presenting our breakfast..............
corned beef with pineapple tidbits and fresh tomato.
We have to load our body with more carbohydrate to have more energy so we had also pasta for our breakfast. Carboloading that's how we call it.
After we had our breakfast. It's about time to pull off our tents its break camp time. We make sure everything was pack accordingly as it was and also we we make sure our campsite was free of garbage and waste. We see to it that before we leave, the campsite is clean and order as is was before we arrive.
Before we leaved, we took this group picture, The first Panaad sa Kinaiyahan participants. Congratulations to all of us!
Jecky waving his hand. Were leaving the campsite going to the jump off.
At the starting line, I was left behind so I grabbed the opportunity to took this photo, behind the back photo.
As I said earlier, Its a 3 in 1 outdoor adventure so here we are, after we arrived at the exit point of Mt.Daat. We proceed directly to Brgy. Bulwang for the Spelunking part.
Its the second part of the adventure so we started with a brief orientation regarding the cave, the do's and don't inside the cave then followed by another group picture before we descend the cave entrance.
We explore the Baliw cave, moderate difficulty level for advance caver/spelunker. Approximately 769 meters long almost a kilometer to trail inside with great sightings of lime formation from the cave ceiling down to the cave ground floor.
Participants are all excited and at the same time nervous while going down the cave. The trail was quite muddy and slippery. As we go far deeper it became also darker that we have to use our headlamp and helmet for protection. You have also to prepare extra batteries, bring also water with you and make sure you have all your important stuff in the dry bag for waterproofing.
The trail became narrow and the oxygen supply was less not a good idea for any claustrophobia person.
Along the trail we took some rest interval of 5-10 minutes.
I also took some photos of other participants, amidst the darkness and difficulty inside the cave still they managed to smile.
That's Claire my girlfriend ready for the duck walk and crawl position just to passed by this portion of the gift. We to extra careful not to touch and harm the lime formation inside the cave to preserved and protect.
The lime formation at the ceiling of Baliw Cave. Amazing lime formation
That's Pio our guide, Art in yellow shirt and me, were almost half of the trail going to the exit.
Another group picture!
The exit point of Baliw cave is almost in the river, Namangyan River that is why everyone who is planning to exit the cave alive has to submerge your body into the water with head up position facing the cave ceiling. I must say that's the most exciting part yet risky also.
At last we are all in the exit area, wet, and dirty yet safe and complete.
We had conquered already the first and second adventure and we are down to one last adventure to complete the event itself and that's the Kayaking adventure at Mabinay Spring.
Mabinay Spring is waiting for us.
SO, with any waste of time we enjoy the third part of adventure, kayaking.
The fresh water has a therapeutic effect of our tired body because the energy that was revive and we are able to enjoy and manage to have our own kayak race.
Justin and Valtams enjoying the paddle..

The next day was our Town Fiesta parade and as a community based mountaineers club we are invited by the town to join the town fiesta parade and so before the other participants leaved for there respected home almost all of us join the the town fiesta civic parade that make the event 4 in 1 adventure already..
Photos of us joining the fiesta parade with our event shirt and event tarp a fun way to end our adventure.
Thought of having a 3 in 1 outdoor adventure? Then joining the Panaad sa Kinaiyahan 3 in 1 outdoor adventure is the best option to the start the year right.
The event is organized by Baktas Mabinay Mountaineers Club MMCI. Which I am a member of this club. A community based mountaineering group in the Municipality of Mabinay. This is the first venture of the club to hold an open climb event, not just climb but we venture on 3 outdoor discipline or skills, climbing, spelunking and kayaking.
The said event aims to promote outdoor activities in the town in line with the towns Fiesta Celebration. Simply promoting Mabinay as Outdoor haven to outdoor enthusiast.
At Mabinay Spring that served as a base camp, waiting for other participants to board on our transportation going to the jump off point. Transpo was assisted by the LGU.
So we headed to the jump off.
Photo inside the mini dumptruck, happy climber.
After arriving at the jump off with a short prayer we started the trek.
Assecending to Mt. Daat of Brgy, Hagtu in the town of Mabinay, strategically located at the kilometer boundary of Negros Oriental and Occidental.
At our first stop. With the very natural thirst quencher fresh cocunut juice. Thanks to the generous owner. It helps a lot for our body hydration.
Jonh Ray one of the club hyper initiated the cocunut opening ritual -) some are waiting for their cocunut to be open.
After the short break, trek continues. Its an open trail no place to hide from the scorching heat of the sun.
2nd break and its was our lunch break at one of our local friend in the mountain which was very accommodating and generous.
After our lunch, the owner of the nipa hut offered us his homemade chocolate drink made from cacao, fruits of his labor in the mountain. His house was surrounded with many vegetation and native chicken.

Hi,
ReplyDeleteI'd just like to ask if let's say its our first time to make the climb to Mt. Daat - is it recommended that we'll have a tour guide or perhaps join a mountaineering group?
Thank you so much!
Hello, for climbing Mt. Daat, your advice to have a guide and it's available at the jump off area..look for Sir Jufel Eranes and have a courtesy to Barangay Captain before you start trek for formality and safety.contact this no.for 09051179171. I think the Barangay is collecting 50 pesos for entry fee and another fee for the guide around 300-500 per group..dipindi na sa bargaining ninyo.-) climb safe..enjoy.
DeleteHello admin. Sir/maam pwede lng mi nga dli mo kuha ug guide?
